Dormer
This is a box-shaped addition to your loft space, attached to a pitched roof to create vertical walls and a horizontal ceiling.
Dormer conversions increase head and floor space, with flush windows and optional roof lights to allow more natural daylight flood the new room. This design is a frequent choice for house refurbishments.
Hip to Gable
Popular in semi-detached properties, hip to gable loft conversions focus on the smaller slope of the roof – the hip.
This section is extended vertically with the roof’s ridge lengthened to join it.
Head space is heightened where the roof has been adapted which makes this particular part of the new loft conversion perfect for bathroom facilities.
Mansard Conversion
Created by a 17th century Parisian architect, a Mansard conversion increases the loft area by changing the layout of the roof on one side completely.
The slope is stretched back 70 degrees with a flat roof merging with the remaining part at the ridge. Dormer windows are added into the new walls with roof lights another optional extra.
Velux
If you are already happy with the size of your loft and just want the area recreated into a functioning room, we’ll remove the existing roof joists and create supporting walls – whilst adding concealed storage – at the sides of the space with Velux windows inserted into the roof’s slope for natural light.
